On May 8, 2025, the Catholic Church welcomed its new leader, Pope Leo XIV, following the passing of Pope Francis in April. Born Robert Francis Prevost in Chicago, USA, Pope Leo XIV is the first North American pope in history. Before his election, he served as Prefect of the Dicastery for Bishops and spent many years as a missionary in Peru, where he became a naturalized citizen.

At his first appearance from the balcony of St. Peter’s Basilica, Pope Leo greeted the world with the words:
“Peace be with you.”
This message reflects his commitment to unity, reconciliation, and peace—values he hopes to share with the global Church.

Pope Leo XIV brings a humble and approachable style to his role, emphasizing listening, dialogue, and faithfulness to Christ. His motto, “In Illo uno unum” (“In the One, we are one”), reminds us of the importance of togetherness in our faith.

Let us keep Pope Leo XIV in our prayers as he begins his mission as the 267th successor of St. Peter, guiding the Church with hope and love.
