Our Classroom

This term in maths, we will be working on money, multiplication and division, length and height and mass, capacity and temperature.

In Literacy this term, we will be exploring settings through the story, ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’. This is a beating the monster story and we will be writing our own.

In our non-fiction writing, we will be writing persuasive adverts selling magic beans!

This half term in RE we will be learning about ‘books’. We will explore The Bible and The Gospels. We will then start our ‘Thanksgiving’ topic where we will retell ‘The Last Supper’ story and learn about the parts of the Mass.

In Science this term, we will be learning about everyday materials. We will explore how materials change and their properties.

We will also be investigating famous scientists and their discoveries!

In History this term, we will be learning about the history of transport. We will find out about when and who invented different modes of transport.

In Advent 1 2022, we learnt about the Sensational Safari! We found out all about Kenya, the animals that live on Safari and the Masaai Tribe.

Year 2 – Seaside

  • Homework consists of three parts: reading, spelling and a maths task.
  • Reading: Please read daily with your child and record it in their reading record. This is checked every week and your child will be rewarded for regular reading.
  • Reading books will be changed every Friday.
  • Spelling: New spellings will be given out every Friday for a spelling test the following Wednesday.
  • Maths task: This is set on a Friday and is due in on Wednesday each week.
  • This year your child will come home with a new homework book.
  • In the homework book, please complete the maths task and spelling practise.
  • Please return the completed homework in the homework book on a Wednesday.

Handwriting in Class 2

This is how each letter should be formed. We call the join going into the letter a ‘launcher’. Your child does not need to join their handwriting yet, we will build up to this.
